CGFI, CBB Donate Over ₱1 Million to Quake Victims in Cebu, Mindanao

BAGUIO CITY — The Cordillera Golfers Foundation Inc. (CGFI) and its partner, the Cebu Blue Bloods (CBB), have extended over ₱1 million in financial aid to victims of the recent earthquakes in Cebu province and Mindanao.

Led by Chairman Douglas Rufino and President Arnel Peil, CGFI allotted ₱300,000 for the affected families in Cebu, while CBB contributed ₱420,000, bringing the total to ₱720,000.

The amount was personally turned over to families of those who perished in Bogo, Tabuelan, Tabogon, San Remegio, and Medellin following the 6.9-magnitude earthquake that struck the province last month.

Based on lists provided by the local government units, each bereaved family received ₱10,000 in cash assistance.

CGFI also released ₱300,000 for quake victims in Mindanao, in coordination with the Davao Eaglemasters, another golfers’ organization assisting in identifying recipients with local authorities.

“This is our way of sharing the Cordilleran spirit of binnadang—the tradition of helping one another in times of crisis,” CGFI said in a statement.

“Our hearts go out to our fellow Filipinos in Cebu and Mindanao. With the help of our partners, we hope to bring comfort and hope as they recover and rebuild,” it added.

The initiative is part of CGFI’s continuing civic efforts, supported by its primary sponsor San Miguel Corporation.

Since its first tournament in 2023, CGFI has allocated around ₱2.4 million annually for community projects, including classroom construction, medical equipment donations, and Starlink internet access for remote schools.***
